Shipstation just gave us notice for raising our plan by an absurd amount to use their API starting 1 month from now. So it’s time to make a switch.
However, our workflow relies on using Make, and Veeqo doesn’t have a native Make integration. Yes I know it can be done manually, but we’ve had terrible luck before with hiring dev’s for complicated automations.
I see it’s been asked about here before, is there any chance of the native Make integration getting done? Maybe even soon?!?
Custom development is likely your only recourse for the time being. Its been a few years since they’ve been acquired by Amazon (March 2022) but I imagine that Veeqo is still in a transitional phase, so integration with 3rd party platforms is probably not high on their list of priorities right now.
If you’ve already signed up for Veeqo, you can try submitting a feature request. At the very least it will signal interest.
You can also try asking a forum admin/moderator to see if they have some inside knowledge about the topic.
If you are willing to brave the waters again and hire a dev, then with Make being an integral part of your automation workflows you’ll probably want someone that can leverage Make’s HTTP module to build out custom bindings and middleware between Make and Veeqo.
As a developer familiar with both platforms (ShipStation and Veeqo), none of that will be trivial to implement and it won’t be cheap either. But if its critical to your business it might be worth the effort.
Thanks @Mike, I saw those right after I posted here and did some more deeper digging.
I was ready to roll and check those out, and then I realized Veeqo doesn’t give the “deliver by” date in the orders table/grid in the UI They also don’t even support printing that date on the packing slip. I’m dumbfounded by this. For a shipping platform that’s owned by Amazon, who is by far the strictest about OTDR (on time delivery rate), why they don’t have this basic info in your face is wild.
You have to click into EVERY order 1-by-1 to find out what the deliver by date is, which is unnecessarily time consuming. It ALSO means you can’t accurately bulk process orders either, adding even more additional time.
To bulk process orders without that deliver by date in your face means you’ll end up paying extra for faster shipping you didn’t need and/or you’ll mistakenly use slower shipping than what you needed and then mess up your OTDR metrics. Both consequences are pretty terrible to be processing orders without having that date at a glance.
I’m a dumb dumb for getting so far into this without realizing some necessary basics are missing I think I’m gonna have to hold off on Veeqo, and check back in a couple months. Unfortunately I don’t have much hope though because I don’t even see these on the feedback board, and there’s NO WAY brands/sellers aren’t asking for this.
Veeqo by default will rate shop for you, always ensuring the cheapest rate is presented to you first (that will meet delivery promise)based on Ship from location, ship to location and other factors such as weight and dimensions etc)at the end of this list we wil display rates that will NOT meet promise so you would need to click into an order and scroll through the list to use a service that wont meet delivery promise.
Providing you use the services that are listed as OTDR protected (ie you dont scroll down and use a service that will arrive late) then you account health will be maintained
You can also add (it should be on order table by default however) a column called Ship By, which will indicate when you need to ship the parcel to ensure it can arrive on time.
@Ben-Veeqo… there’s one huge flaw here… This works ONLY if you’re running EVERYTHING through ABS and not selling anywhere else.
ABS has a growing list of problems and limitations, including a long documented history of shutting ‘off’ services that are clearly within the delivery time and have no recent OTDR issues, therefore no reason to disable them.
Additionally, a month ago Fedex announced a new Overnight STANDARD Saturday delivery service and ABS doesn’t support it. Prior to this Overnight Saturday delivery was offered ONLY with Priority (not Standard). ABS still doesn’t support this new Overnight Standard Saturday delivery service, and seeing how Amazon refuses to support Fedex Envelopes for Overnights, I would not be surprised if Amazon/ABS never supports the new Overnight Standard Saturday delivery service too.
Then what about for Shopify orders? There’s no ABS behind the scenes to calculate that, so again I would need the deliver by date handy. In the recent years SS finally added an option to natively map the deliver by date to a custom field so that it displays in the order table. Prior to the native custom field mapping I did this myself through the API. But I know SS didn’t do this just for little ole me So obviously enough people were asking for it.
Then there’s still the inability to print the deliver by date on the packing slip and/or the shipping label. This is critical at peak holiday times to have this handy. There’s numerous issues that can (and DO) go wrong before a package is physically with the carrier. Carrier shows up earlier than expected? Get a fender bender on your way to dropoff? Got sick today and now you’re slow to pack orders? A package was missed for pickup? You’re going to wish that you knew from LOOKING at the packages what date they need to be there by, so you can decide if it’s worth sending them as is or if you have enough time to bulk void and generate new to upgrade the shipping.
Therefore: I just can’t imagine NOT having this date handy. This is one of those features you hope to not need, but will save you when you have a short period of time to take action and avoid a potential OTDR crisis… which happens like clockwork at least 1-2 times per year. During peak COVID? It was curveballs 1-2 times per month that never happened before. Of course we hope to not ever deal with that again, but that’s why I know better to be prepared for whatever gets thrown at us so we can react quickly.
